Amazon Cloud Computing : A Closed Source Defining a Technical Part of Virtualization or Rather Cloud is Not Good

Amazon is marking a turning point in the way of businesses and people to operate websites and information online, providing them with those that appear to be cloud computing services that are as much as 1% of all.

In six years, Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, and a dozen other services have defined what is cloud computing and today no one knows how many millions of Amazon customers uses its cloud computing services, what is certain is that the numbers are growing even among the enterprise customers who decide to rely on Amazon just looking at the number of users.

The move of the Amazon Marketplace, however, is something more, because it allows Amazon to offer a more complete service. Whereas before it was only Amazon cloud hardware and computational power, it can now become a comprehensive platform, with the software needed by the customer and this can make change many things. In essence, the software vendors, free, open source or commercial, can be made available in the cloud from Amazon EC2 images, ready for use.

Not bad, not bad at all. It appears to us that Parallels is trying to do the same thing for its Parallels products, Amazon probably has more customers and can give them more visibility, since all complete with reviews and a very easy to use interface. In essence, we can use an instance readily, make the deployment and have an environment ready to use right away that software. The advantages are that the virtual instance has been optimized for that specific software.

For those who produce software is a great opportunity to promote your platform, free or paid. What must be clear is that Amazon is expanding rapidly, perhaps too much, its difficult to undermine what is a purely business related to hosting providers and those offering applications and environments within their own dedicated infrastructure.

It is clear that Amazon has figured out what the real needs of its customers, interested in having a fast deployment of new server environments and especially have a “ready” to work platform. Simplifying the services and opening towards outside is the turning point that should be also followed by the webhosting industry, with partnerships with those who offer software or even better with those who offer “solutions” to customers what they want.
