Virtualization Control : Nifty Points

Virtualization control can proved to be effective for the technical management of virtual infrastructure, configuration of the hypervisor to monitor the performance of the VM, memory management etc. Without a doubt, this type of management is important, but the IT environment needs to support services for business-critical applications, not just the infrastructure.

Known Tools for Virtualization Control : Prospects

What we want to make clear in this article named Virtualization Control is that, managing your virtual infrastructure of a specific platform is only part of the management of business-critical applications. Most of the organizations actually has more virtualization vendors, uses multiple platforms (Windows, Linux, iOS) and also is a large part of the company is not virtualized, thus making the environment highly heterogeneous.

Despite leading vendors such as VMware has excellent tools to support the virtual infrastructure, they do not provide sophisticated tools for managing multi-platform, multi-vendor physical and virtual enterprise workloads. Here is importance of knowing the existance of Virtualization Control softwares. The management and automation of business-critical workloads must cover all platforms and all suppliers, both the infrastructure applications, moving between physical and virtual environments. Without this perspective of being heterogeneous, the management becomes paralyzed in the presence of complex environments, leading to a slow and inefficient response, as well as service problems. We can therefore make a distinction between “virtualization management” and “management of Virtual Systems “, the latter representing a more comprehensive set of management regarding the entire system.

Little Known Tools for Virtualization Control

Virtualization Control

An example of automation focused virtual systems is an approach to on-demand execution of operations extract-transfer-load (ETL). Typically most of the ETL processing is performed during periods away from the peaks of processing, usually during the night when online transactions are much less intense. These workloads typically do not need dedicated servers or VM. For more efficient ETL processing, automation of virtualization can put ETL processing running on a VM pre-configured only if necessary. The VM can then be released once the ETL processing is complete, making these resources available for other applications and uses, and at other times. Ability to automatically create a new VM, run the ETL workload, and then release the VM , is essentially a form of infrastructure on demand. This type of infrastructure management enables a very efficient use of physical and virtual resources.

Another example support is by VM Snapshot Processing. Automation of sophisticated workload is not only efficient, but in some cases it is also essential to create snapshots. These are usually operated manually or through automated  process through a simple script. In any case, these approaches are not scalable, and can lead to errors, even in the presence of automation in the use of storage. The snapshot management must be able to handle hundreds of thousands of VMs and should be aware of all the activities of the application to make sure that the data (especially the database tables) are not changing during the snapshot taking process.

Automation controls that secure the application can better manage these processes in large-scale snapshot taking process. Even in the midst of thousands of virtual machines can automatically control the application data, process the snapshot and then compare the phase before and after the snapshot to ensure that the backup is accurate. If not, you can repeat the process as required to ensure accurate snapshots and backups.
