Every company nowadays, has essentially two basic needs that can be met through IT and the Internet – the accessibility by and speeding up the works. This article is named How to Organize Cloud Infrastructure Lesson 2 as the first and foremost important step to plan and get the maximum ROI has been discussed before.

To satisfy the customers, to keep the activities official and organized; the first process is usually creating a website, this is nothing new per se. IBM’s website is few decades old. The basic advantage of having a website is that, the users can browse the products, check the features and proceed to buy them. Now to optimize the point of sell and the production, often the use of softwares for collaboration and document management becomes a big need. This is basically how the need increases. Such softwares for enterprises are usually installed on dedicated servers or bare metal on data center, small business had not much access to such huge pool of computational resource. The terminology Cloud might be wrong, it might just be an extreme usage of Virtualization, but practically Cloud brought this high end infrastructure to the SMBs.

Basics of How to Organize Cloud Infrastructure

The first thing to do is to know what are the requirements of the software we want to use and how many users will use them and in what way they will use them. If, for example, we want to rely on Microsoft Exchange because there are other software company that exploits certain characteristics, it will be necessary to allow for servers with Windows operating system and other software licenses.

How to Organize Cloud Infrastructure can be divided into three parts :

  1. Operational nodes (servers that perform the required operations)
  2. Networking (devices that are used to manage the communication between the nodes themselves and with the network)
  3. Security devices including firewalls, access control credentials and authorizations

How to Organize Cloud Infrastructure

Regarding the operational nodes, it is enough to start 3 cloud server; on which will run specialized services to fulfill certain functions. We will create a webserver, which will serve the company website, a database server, where enterprise e-commerce website stores any information and / or management systems within the company, an email server, through which everyone can read and send email and possibly store them.

In order to use the nodes it is necessary to have an ad-hoc network infrastructure that interconnects them in this regard and will use a virtual switch. Finally, we will also create a server that will act as a gateway to access the services provided by the nodes operating properly, so that unauthorized transactions will not take place.

Once completed, the infrastructure will allow you any employees not physically present in the office to work and dispose their working documents.
