A Quick Look at HP Cloud Computing Solutions

HP Cloud Computing can be realized counting the advantage of being a hardware manufacturer. HP is serious about Software Defined Network. Amazon and Google, irrespective of their current market shares; practically lost the game many years ago in front of the flexible model brought by Rackspace. Rock Solid performance on cutting age hardware with excellent support is the major formula of Rackspace Cloud.

With OpenStack, the hardware manufactures including Dell, HP, Fujitsu and others are trying the other ways, like HP focusing on SDN solutions to improve the management of enterprise networks and integrate the administration of wired networks with those of the wireless. Clearly; HP, Dell, Fuzitsu, Rackspace, RedHat are not really competing with each other.

HP Cloud Computing Solutions and Proposals for Software Defined Network

HP on Interop in Las Vegas has shown all new wired and wireless network solutions, managed cloud-enabled Software-Defined Networking and designed to enable the customers of small and medium business the agility and ease of handling with nets useful to their business.

Designed for those who can not afford IT staffs on site and at the same time, for those who want to avoid the expensive heavy taxes related to IT consulting, SDN solution proposals by HP are capable of breaking down more than 33 percent of initial costs and improve the overall TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), combining the efficiency of mode networks with Software-Defined cost models typical of cloud services, such as with pay-per-use basis.

To achieve these goals, the HP aim to decouple the level of control and perform intelligent management of networking hardware, leaving all the capabilities and opportunities of configuration software or a suite of applications designed for simplicity and immediacy. The Software-Defined is designed not only for the wired networks, but also for the management of the wireless network, in order to meet the expansion of mobile devices in the enterprise and to the phenomenon of BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) to which many companies are adapting. It is no coincidence that HP has begun to work with giants like Citrix and MobileIron offering an optimal integration of mobile device management (MDM, Mobile Device Management) platform with the HP Intelligent Management Center (IMC) solutions dedicated to SDN.

Proposals for HP SDN Networking

Going even more concretely, HP has designed the new access point 560 and HP 517 based on IEEE 802.11 wireless protocol designed to allow enterprises to support a number of mobile devices which are constantly growing and improving at the same time using speeds three times higher than those of the 802.11n standard.

HP Cloud Computing SDN

To address the need for network administrators to pinpoint each of the myriad of mobile devices supported by SDN products, HP has decided to offer the technology HP Location Aware Networking, which is able to locate any wireless device enabled with an accuracy of about 2 meters inside the perimeter of corporate networks. Thus the encounter between SDN, Big Data and Location Aware, HP develops SmartShopper, an idea designed to help retailers strengthen relationships with their customers, proposing offers intelligent, location-based services on smartphones and conveyed directly to consumers.

We are not even considering the efforts of HP behind pure Cloud Computing Solutions, which might appear HP is not giving importance; but the progress of services offerings not really speak so. HP is serious about the ongoing IaaS, CDN services as well as looking for the future, which actually matches with HP’s business strategy we have seen since past few decades.
