CacheFly CDN Review for the Cloud Native Apps

CacheFly 100mb most commonly used to test from the servers for their bandwidth. Akamai is the first choice as CDN still today to many of the users. However, with the increasing number of big players as their clients, Akamai is quite pathetic for the sub-account users which includes Rackspace (cloud files), HP Cloud (HP Cloud CDN). Here is a Quick CacheFly CDN Review for the Cloud Native Apps. CacheFly CDN is Intended for Powerful Web App Like WordPress With 40+ PoPs. KeyCDN is our choice for the small to medium WordPress websites, because KeyCDN is easier, cheaper. This CacheFly CDN Review is not sponsored, in-depth data analysis will be absent.

CacheFly CDN allows a Pay as you Go account at this moment. We have an account at this moment with their shared SSL certificate – https://abhishekghosh.cachefly.net/. It will give a 404 error unless I upload an HTML file. They support direct FTP usage. Sadly that subdomain name is username. For security reasons, it is unusable. It is better to use own server’s subdomain. Specially after the introduction of Let’s Encrypt free SSL, we can keep an HTTPS subdomain constant for CDN and change the provider. In other words, it is just easy to get started with CacheFly CDN. They have a real time monitoring of requests, which quite sensitive.

CacheFly CDN Review : Offered Features

If you are looking for budget CDN with near top performance, definitely it is KeyCDN. You can mix KeyCDN plus CacheFly for your website as well – some from KeyCDN, some from CacheFly. CacheFly CDN is very fast but their backend technology is complicated like Akamai. It is better to have a good budget to use CacheFly. After uploading a file to CacheFly CDN via FileZilla (for origin Push), you need to disconnect to make the file available (FTP QUIT). Otherwise, CacheFly backend will not make it available to their public cloud for security reason. Here are some positive points for CacheFly CDN :

---

+ Error rate to serve files is near 0.5%
+ Number of PoPs is near 40+
+ All known standard cloud companies marked CacheFly as number 1 CDN provider by performance
+ SLA for 100% uptime, availability

However, KeyCDN has the most advanced and easy to use client dashboard. CacheFly lacks dynamic content acceleration. For one GET request for larger file, CacheCDN will work great. Clearly, by technology and performance CacheFly is ahead of Level3, EdgeCast, Akamai, KeyCDN, MaxCDN etc.

Global flat fee           N/A                  $0.04 per GB (first 10TB)
NA/EU Traffic (low volume) $0.10 per GB          $0.04 per GB
NA/EU Traffic (high volume)$0.027 per GB (500TB+) $0.02 per GB (500TB+)
APAC Traffic           $0.150 per GB  $0.04 per GB
LATAM Traffic           $0.20 per GB          $0.04 per GB
Extra costs           $0.008/10K Requests    Additional zones (5+), storage for push

Both, CacheFly and KeyCDN are good for the small usage. KeyCDN has an odd way of minimum $25 payment, CacheFly has typical transparent charge.
