Not Everyone is Aware that We Can Use Our Computer USB Mouse, Keyboard With Android Smartphones. In previously published article, we discussed about Micro USB OTG(On-The-Go), you can buy a Made in China micro adapter at 50 cents to few dollars. After testing adapter, you can buy an OTG Hub to directly connect many input devices and other things. Here is How to Use Wired USB Mouse and Keyboard on Android with OTG.

You simply need to connect your USB mouse with Android using Micro USB OTG adapter to get it working. It is plug and play device like it does on full computer. A cursor will appear on mobile screen. It is so easy that you’ll feel just great. Same goes for USB keyboard. It is also plug and play device like mouse or Gamepad.

As for mouse, you will get notification of mouse is connected on notification center. You can click hold left mouse key to simulate finger touch, you can click icons, you can scroll and also use the right click button.

As for keyboard, it will work right out of the box, but you’ll get more options via notification center for setup.

USB OTG is natively present on Android since Honeycomb (3.1) so it is likely that your device is already compatible. Below Android 2.3 has no OTG support and the OS was just bad.

There are various free Android applications available to debug the connected USB device. We do not think those are important for ordinary things like a mouse (you can clearly see whether working) but those are important for connecting a DSLR/DSLT via USB OTG. Some applications are quite simple – simple tap tells whether it can “sense” some hardware is attached or not.

In some cases, for the advanced users, some device status becomes important to know. Biggest usage of OTG is around connecting dev boards like Arduino and other basic electronic components including sensors.
