Designing Tips
Basically we emulate the 3D effect with vector and raster tools. Samsung watches really have enough good PPI screens (if we consider present technological limits). Ultimately we do get some shadow & shine effects out of different angles. Initially avoid using metallic colours. Metallic gloss on PSD is quite difficult to make realistic and looks on the watch unreliable. It is far easier to fake ordinary paint and plastic materials. I have noticed that white, red, blue, black, yellow (hands), silver colour, the copper colour looks more realistic on Samsung watches. Do not replicate 100% of the traditional watches. You need modification of materials to give the feel of depth. Think the material like plastic, paper. Another thing is that – when you are wearing the watch on the left hand (with clock ON) than the 3D things at 90 degrees on the left side of the watch (3 o clock position) should be lesser to avoid looking unrealistic. Casino and Seiko watch faces are easier to replicate.
